Governors

Landscore's governors are responsible for the strategic direction of the school, for holding the Headteacher to account for educational outcomes and for making sure that money is well spent.

We have 12 governors; one is the Headteacher, one is a staff governor, three are parent governors, one is a Local Authority governor and the remaining six are co-opted governors, selected for specific experience that they bring to the governing body.

We organise much of the governors' work into two broad areas - "Resources" and "Children and Community".

We regularly review skills and experience across our governors against the recommendations of the National Governors Association and our own priorities so that, when we have a vacancy, we know what sort of person we need to bring in to the team. We usually find that person from among the parents at Landscore or from the Crediton community.

I have been a Governor at Landscore since 2008, when my son was at the school, he has since moved to QE and my daughter is now enjoying life at Landscore.  As a Parent Governor I was elected by and from the parent body in 2008, and have continued the role for a second term.  Being a school Governor is a varied role and one which I take seriously. As a Parent Governor, I endeavour to represent all parents/carers here at Landscore by regularly attending the Governor’s Meetings which take place each half term. I attend the Children and Community Committee and am an Observing Governor who visits the school to sit in on some of the classes in order to see the teaching in action!
