Tasty Nutritious Treats!

In Team 2 we have been learning about Explorers and preparing to become Explorers ourselves when we visit Dartmoor. We decided Explorers would need to have lots of energy, and a healthy snack to eat! We taste tested different brands of cereal bars, and used our analysis from these to help us design and create our very own bars! We used a range of healthy ingredients, including nuts, dried fruit, honey and pumpkin seeds. They were all delicious and we had a fantastic time creating these tasty treats! Year 3 were incredibly lucky and had a visit from Tesco's "Community Champion" who came to talk to them all about healthy eating and help them create their muesli bars. He told them about suga

Recycling Rubbish

Our Year 5/6 children have been learning all about Recycling Rubbish. They have produced a book to encourage us all to recycle more. We have also set up a new recycling area to help recycle items that aren't collected in the household recycling boxes. Y6 Q.E. Athletics event

Today saw our Year 6 children visit the Q.E. Barnfield site for an athletic event. The children were in their four school team colours and rotated around a total of ten different activities. The activities were based around running, jumping, throwing and catching. We had a lovely day up there, enjoying the challenges the Q.E. P.E. department planned for us. The children were amazing and nearly all our teams came in the top 10 out of 24 teams which was great. However, better than that, all children, without question, tried their very best at every activity they participated in – that was the biggest success! Gold medals for all of them!

Recycling Rubbish

Our Year 5/6 children have been writting about how and why to recylce our rubbish. They have created a book to form part of our new recyling area. We are focusing on trying to recycle household items that are not collected in household recycling boxes. These items also help to raise money for the charity Ellie's Fund. Eden Project

Slightly later than normal - sorry - but here are some photos of our brilliant trip to the Eden Project. We visited the site to support our topic of Rainforests in the Spring term. The children had a fantastic day, learning lots from our lesson sessions there and experiencing the unusual humidity that the Rainforest dome provides. The plants and wildlife were fascinating and we were all enthralled all day!

Holy Cross Church visit

Whilst meeting the new vicar of the Holy Cross church (Matthew Tregenza) on his visit to our school, we discovered that the Holy Cross church in Crediton had a display that linked nicely to our Environmental theme this summer term. We couldn't miss the opportunity to walk down there and magpie some ideas for our upcoming Arts week. The children were a real credit to the school and we had numerous comments regarding how friendly and polite they were when walking through the High Street and chatting with the public at the church. Well done, all!

Half-Marathon Challenge

This year saw another 32 of our Year 5 and 6s complete the Exeter Football in the Community Half-marathon Challenge. Since January the children have been running a mile or slightly more each week to accumulate at least 12 miles of running. Then, on a sunny Sunday May 19th at Exeter Quay, we all ran the last 1.1 mile to achieve an overall distance of 13.1 miles - a half-marathon! Congratulations to all of our children who took part on their great achievement.
