Landscore's new teachers!

This week has seen some excellent new teachers here at Lands core. Our Year 6 children have planned, resourced and delivered amazing, engaging lessons to our Year 5 children. The Year 5 children have had the option to be taught Circus skills, Cooking and Baking skills, Stop Motion animation, Art skills, Sport Skills,, Survival skills, Caring for horses and Geography skills (PHEW!!). The Year 6 children have obviously had some great role models this year as their teaching skills were exceptional! Well done Year 6s!

Volunteers' Party

This morning, we invited our amazing volunteers in to say a great, big, massive 'thank you' for their fantastic support this year. We are truly grateful for their time that they give up and devote to helping the teachers and, more importantly, the children in our school. As a mark of our appreciation, we treated them to cake (kindly made by Mrs Jones), cups of tea, a beautiful card each made by our Foundation children and a little, chocolatety present each. Mrs Main and Miss Brown have already said thank you at the gathering, but once again, an enormous THANK YOU fro m us all!

Year 6 Play: Pirates of the Curry Bean

Monday night saw the Year 6 children perform their end of year play: Pirates of the CurryBean. WOW!!! It was an absolute success. The children performed with huge smiles, total confidence and acting abilities that would make Helen Mirren (sorry kids - ask your mums) give up her Oscar. It was incredibly entertaining so well done to our phenomenal Year 6 actors and actresses, Ms McKeon, Mr Rees and the Team 3 staff who put it all together! Bravo! There are 3 images below...

As well as linking our Environmental theme this summer term to our amazing (but sad) art sculptures for Art Week, Year 5 have also been looking at helping our environment through 'Make-do and mend'. We have encouraged the children to try and not be part of our increasing 'Throw-away society' and up-cycle their unwanted clothing to make new items of clothing. We have truly seen some future clothes designers during this work. Keep your eye on the catwalks of Crediton High Street this summer for some brand new, totally original garments!

Y5 Quogwarts Day at Q.E.

Yesterday Year 5 had another very successful day at the Barnfield Site of Queen's Elizabeth School. The children experienced science, art, drama, computing activities and a few not so orthodox subjects like DIvination and Herbology! We all had a fantastic time with the children fully engaged in the sessions.

Arts Week 2019

What a fabulous week we all had last week – fun filled creative and very arty! The children all enjoyed the range of art activities on offer and, as I am sure you would agree if you came to the open afternoon, they produced some excellent results. The ‘Time Together’ projects were fantastic and everyone was so creative - your ideas were all inspiring and quite incredible. Many thanks to everyone who sent in their ‘Time Together’ project and also to everyone who came along on Friday afternoon to support the children – it was great to see so many people there celebrating and enjoying the artwork.

Exploring Haytor

Team 2 had a fantastic day exploring Dartmoor this week. The weather was fabulous and we got to see some stunning views all across Haytor - we could even see the sea! We took lots of photos and made sketches that we can use for our art project for Arts Week. We walked up to the rocks, went around the quarry and saw lots of different wildlife, including ponies, tadpoles, newts and leeches! Overall we had a fantastic day gathering our sketches for our paintings next week and it was great to be outside in such a beautiful part of the world. Sam and Tomas (Year 4) wrote this about their day: "On the 21st of June Team 2 all went to Dartmoor National Park! We went there to explore, sketch, u
