This week we have been celebrating the Festival of Diwali. In RE we learnt about what this festival means and why it is celebrated. We learnt that Diwali is the five-day Festival of Lights, celebrated by millions of Hindus, Sikhs and Jains across the world. Diwali is a festival of new beginnings and the triumph of good over evil, and light over darkness. To celebrate we created our own Diwali Lamps made from clay. First, we shaped our clay into the traditional diwali lamp shape, then we waited patiently for them to dry.
When they were dry we decorated them in bright and vibrant colours and at home we will put a candle inside our lamps and light them!
