Phonics: Exploring the 'ue' sound 22.5.20


Today, we would like you to have a go at spotting words which contain the 'ue' sound but this sound can be written in many different ways eg 'ue', 'ew', 'u-e' as well as others.

Don't let it catch you out! Sometimes these spellings make the sound 'oo' and sometimes they make the sound 'you'. It's tricky but we know that you can do it. Talk to a grown up about it if you're not sure.

You could write a list of all of the words that you find.

You could challenge yourself to find things around your home which have an 'ue' sound and then try to identify how to spell it.
