English - 10th September 2021

Today we would like you to focus on acrostic poems.

This video will help you explore what an acrostic poem is - https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/z4mmn39/articles/ztdvw6f

We would like you to write an acrostic poem about your dragon from this week - remember, you can use the vocabulary you have generated so far (including verbs and adjectives) and write short sentences for each line. Here is an example for the word FLY:

Free at last the dragon soars,

Lopping over silver clouds,

Yearning to glide forever.

Here is template below you can use to help you.

Words you could use:

DRAGON

FLY

WINGS

FIRE

FIERCE

STRONG

MYSTERIOUS

Challenge:

What other things can you write an acrostic poem about.

Yourself?

Your family?

Your favourite flower?

Your favourite food?

Be creative and see if you can write an acrostic poem about something else around you. Remember, the start of the sentence must start with the first letter you are focusing on. You can use just one word or short sentences to describe what you are writing about.
