Team 2's theme this half term is the Ancient Greeks. This afternoon we travelled back to 776 BC to take part in the very first Olympic Games. Our seven city states (Thebes, Athens, Argos, Delphie, Corinth, Sparta and Rhodes) received word from a messenger that the Olympics were beginning in honour of the Greek God Zeus and began their journey to Olympia . Our athletes packed up their things and made their way to the games carrying their city flags with pride.
On arrival the different cities took part in various Olympic events including the discus and the javelin. Rather than medals, our athletes won a wreath to wear on their head (as was traditional during the Ancient Greek Olympics).
It was a fabulous day - Hail Zeus!
