Landscore Roman Army

This half term, the children in Year 3 and 4 have been learning about The Romans and the influence that they have had on Britain today.


In Art, we studied sculptures and looked at Roman architecture and artwork. We then studied how to sketch a figure, and used this knowledge to help us design a Roman soldier, which we would later use to create a clay sculpture. We used our knowledge of clay sculpting (such as using scoring clay and using slip to join) to create our own Roman soldier figures, based on our original sketches.


Below you can see the pictures of our Roman army in the making, and the finished product. We based our final pictures on the "Terracotta Army" in China, but have called it "The Landscore Roman Army" -
