We believe that regular reading is vital. Please find time to read with your child as often as you can. This could be the school reading book, books from your shelves at home or a library book.
All children have a login in for Bug Club. Each child has been allocated the appropriate book band to suit their current reading level. Please see your child's class curriculum letter for login details or visit this Bug Club help blog. Failing that please contact your child's class teacher if you get stuck.
In addition, Oxford Owl are offering access to free eBooks. It is simple to use and offers a range of interesting books. You can sign up for free! Once registered, you can browse the eBook library by age, series, book band or book type. You can also see some more eBook resources in our virtual library.
Year 2s
Please note this Bug Club only goes up to Orange book band, so if your child is reading books at a higher level please use the free eBook link above.
A note for our Year 2s on Accelerated Reader...
Once you have found an eBook or a paper version of a book you like, you can easily search on Accelerated Reader book finder to see if it falls in your Accelerated Reader range.
Don't forget... vocabulary journals.
Encourage your childs inquisitive nature by exploring new words that you come across together. These can be words you read together in a book, words you see in other texts (newspapers, magazines), words you hear on the radio or television. Even words that come up in conversation. Make a note of these in the journal. Then talk to your child about the words meaning and perhaps practise using them in sentences.
Any questions, please get in touch.
Happy reading.
