This week, our Year 3 and 4 class had a blast exploring volcanoes as part of their geography topic! The children worked together to create their own volcano models using salt dough and natural materials they collected from around the playground— including twigs, leaves, rocks and grass to make their landscapes look realistic.

Once their volcanoes were ready, the real excitement began! Using bicarbonate of soda and vinegar, the children created mini eruptions and watched in amazement as their volcanoes bubbled and fizzed just like the real thing.

The children will be writing a recount of the experience in their English lessons, describing what they did, what they saw, and how they felt during their explosive experiment.
