Year 1 Maths 12.2.21

Please send in a photo of this lesson so that I can see how you got on.

Today in maths we are working on ordering numbers within 50.

Use this counting song to get you warmed up and ready to start today. Ask a grown up to stop the song in different places so that you can identify the next number - the number that is one more. Click here and get ready to join in.

Now have a look at this video.

You could click here for the power point slides if you would prefer to go at your own pace.

Remember to share your ideas and answers with a grown up.

Finally, I would like you to have a go at ordering numbers within 50.

You could:

Complete this worksheet.

OR

Pick 3 or 4 numbers within 50 (you could make number cards) and try to order them from smallest to greatest / greatest to smallest.

I would like you to represent the numbers practically using objects such as beads / counters / pasta as this will support your work today. Think about the work we have done on tens and ones. You might also find it helpful to use the number grid to 50 again today.

Grown ups:

If your child is finding these numbers tricky, please pick just 2 numbers within 10 and then numbers within 20. Encourage your child to accurately count out sets of objects / recognise the numbers on the number grid to 50 and then identify which number is bigger (greater) / smaller (less than).

Want to do some more ordering?:

Have a go at this Caterpillar Ordering game. Click on 'ordering', '1 to 100' and then try to order the given numbers to put the caterpillar back together.
