I WOULD LIKE TO SEE YOUR MATHS TODAY SO PLEASE EMAIL A PHOTO OF YOUR WORK TO ME.
Today in maths we are continuing our work on measurement. This week, we are focusing on measuring and comparing length and height.
Before we begin, let's practise counting in 10s again, like we did yesterday, to get warmed up and ready to start. Click here and get ready to join in.
Now have a look at this video.
You could click here for the power point slides if you would prefer to go at your own pace.
Remember to share your ideas and answers with a grown up.
Today's activities can be found within the video / power point. Please stop and have a go at the different tasks as and when instructed.
Can you find sets of objects around your home that you could use to measure with? (eg Lego bricks, counters, pens)
Can you measure the length of a spoon using one set of objects?
Choose (at least) 8 different things around your home and measure the length / height of the object using eg pens / Lego bricks, paperclips, counters.
REMEMBER TO CHOOSE OBJECTS THAT ARE THE SAME SIZE WHEN MEASURING AND DON'T LEAVE SPACES BETWEEN THEM, just like they demonstrate in the video / power point.
Grown ups:
Try and encourage your child to talk in full sentences about what they find when they are measuring today.
For example:
The teddy is 14 Lego bricks tall. The car is 8 paperclips long.
Happy measuring!
