Year 1 Maths 5.3.21

Today in maths we are continuing our work on measurement. This week, we are focusing on measuring and comparing length and height.

Before we begin, let's practise counting in 5s again, like we did last week, to get warmed up and ready to start. Click here and get ready to join in.

Now have a look at this video.

You could click here for the power point slides if you would prefer to go at your own pace.

Remember to share your ideas and answers with a grown up.

Finally, I would like you to complete the measuring lengths challenges on this worksheet.

(You may need to adapt some of the objects to suit being at home rather than in a classroom).

Grown ups:

Try and encourage your child to talk in full sentences about what they find when they are measuring.

For example:

The pencil is 7 cubes long. The car is 4 rubbers long.

If your child is finding it difficult to complete the worksheet, try to make it more practical and pick objects from around the house which you can measure the length of. You could take photos of their measuring. (Use the worksheet to give you ideas to support this work).

Happy measuring!
