Today we are looking at comparing the area of different shapes.

Which shape has the largest area?


As well as counting squares, we can also find the area of a shape by multiplying the length (the blue line below) by the width (the red line below). What are the areas of each shape below and can you compare each one?



If you can and fancy a challenge find some squared paper at home, or some post-it-notes, or some cubes and make the letters of your name. Which letter has the largest area?
